Summary of the ArylPyrrole Data

Published by Alice Williamson

Here is a summary of the biological data obtained for the aryl pyrroles to date:

The team have been looking for patterns in the data ahead of the next consultation. The scheme below concisely displays the patterns that have been identified at this stage of the project. More detailed analysis including the structures and activities of all compounds that have been biologically evaluated can be found on the OSDD Malaria G+ page

The team set about synthesising targets SA - SJ and ordered the commercial compounds chosen at the consultation in July. In late September, the commercial compounds, plus some of the synthetic targets (and analogues) were sent away for biological evaluation.

Project Update

Published by Alice Williamson
Where is the project up to?

We've been busy working on the synthesis of the ten 'final' aryl pyrrole compounds chosen after the consultation in July.

This post is a brief summary of the current project status to let people know what has been achieved and which compounds still need to be conquered.

So here we go:

The third round consultation highlighted compound Sf as an attractive target for synthesis.

Request for Help

Hello, I’m Alice and I joined Mat Todd’s group as a Postdoc just over a month ago. I have started working on the Malaria open source drug discovery project and this is the first of many posts to come, thanks for reading and please let me know your thoughts. My first task was to synthesise compound Sd a fairly unintimidating target, especially as Paul Ylioja has developed a robust synthesis of the required alcohol 1.
